There are few projects to conserve the loss of this rich genetic diversity of native honey bee races. Only for Kafkas Bee Race were protection zones established in the Turkey. Otherwise there are many characterization studies to maintaining identification and performance of honey bee races and ecotypes in the Turkey. Colony defensive tendency, swarming tendency, pollen and propolis accumulate tendency, resistance against disease and pest, developing of colony population, production of incubator technics, efficiencies of flying, wintering tendency were investigated in these colony performance studies.

In order to increasing the apiculture productivity in the Turkey, a good colony management, improvement of environmental conditions, conservation of the Honey Bee races under the risk are necessary. Keywords : HoneyBee (Apis mellifera L.), HoneyBee Genotypes, Colony Performance, Selection
