Investigation of Infestation Ratio in colonies traeted against Varroa before wintering in district of Ordu Province

1 Arıcılık Araştırma İstasyonu Müdürlüğü, Ordu Viewed : 2016 - Downloaded : 1203 This study was carried out to determine efficiency and sufficiency of varroa strugle and evaluate view point of beekeepers to varroa problem by investigating infestation ratio in the honey bee (A. mellifera L.) colonies traeted against Varroa destructor before wintering in Fall season of 2012.

Samples ,each includes 100 alive bees, were collected from randomly choosen 3 different colonies of 40 beekeepers who were placed in 15 villages of Ordu Province and registered to Beekeeping Register System also treated their colonies against the varroa before Fall season.

Varroa density was found 5% and above in 17% of beekeepers` colonies and average varroa infestation rate was found 2,46% in the study field. According to survey results, beekeepers were treated against varroa in accurate time but they didn`t have knowledge about problems caused by drug choosing, application method and misused drugs.
