CLASSIFICATION OF HONEY BEES (APIS MELLİFERA L.) AND EFFECTS OF ECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS ON THEİR MORPHOLOGIES
2 Arıcılık Araştırma Enstitüsü Müdürlüğü, Altınordu, Ordu, Türkye Viewed : 3317 - Downloaded : 1756 The classification of honey bees with morphological characters first started in the 19th century and and it was continued to develop until today. Many honey bee (Apis mellifera L.) races and genotypes spread on Earth with their unique morphological structures. These races and genotypes are differed from each other in terms of morphological, behavioral and physiological characteristics. Classification of honey bees by classical morphometry uses data such as body size, tongue length, femur length, metatarsus length, 5th tergit hair length, wax gland length, Scutellum color, back leg length, wing vein angles. Geometric morphometry uses only wing vein angles to reveal shape-dependent variation. In this review, it is aimed to give informations about some studies about the classification of honey bee race and genotypes and the effects of ecological differences on morphological characters.
